Consultation
We believe that children should be consulted about their play areas. Co-production allows us to create the best possible playgrounds for kids. We offer consultation workshops with the children and young people that use our playgrounds. We love bringing children’s ideas to life in our natural play spaces. To find out how it works, check out our case study below.
-
We partnered with Sycamore Gardens in 2018 to design a bilingual play area for all ages. Translated questionnaires were offered to gather community input from both children and adults.
-
We gathered input on community space from 46 people in two afternoon sessions. 40 children shared their preferences for play equipment and activities using images and dot voting. Snacks and chalk added to the enjoyment.

Kids preferred having a football pitch, basket swing, table tennis, and slides. They showed a preference for natural wood play over synthetic materials. Swinging, balancing, and digging were also well-liked. The consultation highlights the need for diverse play options, including a football area and a separate play space featuring natural elements for swinging, sliding, climbing, balancing, and digging. Kids also showed interest in different shelter areas, with the willow dome and colorful shelter each selected ten times in total.
