London Play Design has partnered with HM Probation Service to provide low-cost maintenance for adventure playgrounds and other community projects. Regular playground maintenance helps reduce site hazards and increase the durability of timber play equipment, minimising the need for major, costly repairs in the future. Our Community Payback Plus programme helps keep playgrounds safe and enjoyable and provides valuable support for individuals serving community payback orders. 

What is Community Payback Plus?

HM Probation Service's Community Payback Scheme involves probationers in essential community service tasks, such as gardening, painting, and repairs, under London Play Design's close supervision. By participating in these activities, individuals can give back to their communities while learning valuable skills and contributing positively to society.

How it Works:

  • Each week, a team of 6 to 10 probationers, led by a qualified supervisor, dedicates a 6-hour shift to maintaining local playgrounds.

  • Our skilled carpenters ensure the team has the necessary tools and materials, making the process smooth and efficient.

  • We offer comprehensive support, including safety assessments and assistance from our volunteer programme for major repairs.

  • While the Community Payback service is free, organisations can opt for a convenient one-year contract with a customizable annual fee based on their specific needs and location.
